Last day of our trip in Europe

I'll let Locke finish his commentary if he'd like to edit feel free Love, but life is
moving quickly and unfolding here in Texas that I don't want to forget an
enchanting little city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This is a medieval town that is surrounded by a 25 foot stone wall, with periodic look-out towers to ensure the tourists and shop keepers inside remain safe.
Locke scored a sweet place to rest within the city walls and these were
the keys (to the right) that we were given.
Medieval huh!?
They were cool but sooo loud to use.
No quick lock buttons, no you have to use these to
keep the door shut. Which made us all feel a little vulnerable to voyeurism. That key hole was way big. Nonetheless it was a cool touch to such an old place.
As you can see here, our neighbors were not smart enough to plug their key hole. Amateurs.

This photo was taken from the wall walkway which a person can take all the way around the town, a solid 3 - 4 mile walk.

This was taken from the top of one of the towns, about six stories up. The wood ladders/steps used to get to the top are a bit unnerving. Apparently wood looses its stability somewhere in between being crafted from a tree trunk and sitting on the side of a stone tower for 1200 years.

Thank goodness for building codes, could you imagine a flat roofed building in the mix?

Schneeballen - 'Snowballs' a Rottenbrg specialty.

Snowballs....they had so much potential!
Too bad they didn't have a jellied filled center.

The east gate to the city. They actually still have the reinforced wooden drop down gates, but they only deploy them when the Jehovah Witnesses are coming.

Outside the south west gate, next to the old prison.

Town square, had some mean cantaloupe gelato here.

Edge of town, behind Locke is a hundred foot drop.

Here's view down, we really need to figure out how to get a panorama shot with our camera.
Voted the coolest doorknob
you open by pulling on the root.
How ironic

We woke early in the morning and left this sleepy town to a less sleepy but not bustling Frankfurt
airport. It may not always be true but in our experience Sunday's were spent quietly!
It was wonderful.
